The Strong House is a very special project that started with a request from Linda Higgins to create a gnome house with "access for all". This meant including ramps for gnomes with disabilities. Lindas' passion and dedication to raising funds for the planned Nature Encounter For All led her to think of the gnomes as well. We appreciate her concern for their inclusivity and the challenge was accepted.

Knowing of the love that gnomes have for fellow creatures, the butterfly caretaker came to mind. These beautiful, delicate insects like to spend time with their friends in the dome high atop this home. On the front lawn, at the bottom of a wide ramp leading to the front door, are a couple of welcoming wheelchairs, awaiting the arrival of guests. Wild mushrooms grace the arch and cascade down the side of this house, but the real view is from the tree-lined balcony. In the spring and summer, the gnomes can enjoy watching the pollinators from here as they flit among the flowers planted around by the caretaker just for them.

Be prepared for the sights and smells to arouse your senses at this place.

The sale of this gnome home is a special fundraiser with proceeds going toward the Nature Encounter For All project!
The fair market value of the house is $500, with a $500 tax-deductible donation going toward Friends of the Arboretum.
