A Rare Opportunity!

The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is retiring 7 houses from its collection of unique, fine-crafted gnome and fairy houses. This is a magical opportunity to acquire one of these sculptures for your own garden. They are truly one-of-a-kind works of art!

The "houses" have been exhibited during Friends of the Arboretum's annual Luminary Walk and carefully stored between events. With care and maintenance from the new owners, they will be treasured features in local gardens or outdoor living spaces.

Each house has been crafted by one of four talented local artists - Michele Sevcik, Andra Chase, Joan Sprenger and Maggie Rudzik. The houses are a well-known part of local history and culture. Viewed by thousands of people, their photos have been posted on the web and social media far and wide.

Enjoy Michelle Sevcik's poetic journey through the creative process!

Took a walk - "watch that rock." Found a stump with a hump. Found a log, left the frog! Found some sticks and grass for kicks. Found some moss - "Don't give it a toss." Found a vine works so fine. Found some roots, now that just suits. Time to create - Before its too late.

What to do? What to do? Mold it, cut it, bend it in two. Glue it and glue until I am through.

What to do? What to do? Hollow log with many floors? "Oh, no", I need some doors, some windows too, that will do.
What A Sight! Not So Bright!

What to do? What to do? "Mom, this ones for you"! Something purple you will find all the time when it's mine! Now I need some red, I think I said. Make the door a popper - Pick the color copper.

What I did, what I did - Took a walk, missed that rock. Found a stump, with a hump. Made a House for a mouse. Or a Home for a Gnome!

Why I did what I did - In the art - With my heart - You will always be a part.

One Of A Kind. What A Great Find!
